About our School

The school is set in one of the most beautiful villages in Wiltshire, overlooking the valley and House of Longleat. The school was originally founded by the Thynne family and was once referred to as Lord Bath School. It has always been linked with the Longleat Estate and maintains these links with Lord and Lady Bath today. The school plays an important part in the life of the village. It benefits from a great deal of support from the local community and has many opportunities to contribute to it as well. In this way our school family is extended to include the support and friendship of many people who have the school's welfare at heart.

We are a family school with traditional values; instilling a sense of responsibility and virtuous qualities in all our children. We are proud of our school and love singing our Horningsham Hymn every week in our Celebration Assembly. This was written for the school by British composer Iain Ballamy as a gift to the school when his youngest child to go through the school moved on to secondary school.

Being a stone's throw away from Longleat House, we have stunning views and often hear the sounds of the seals on Longleat Lake! As a community school we have strong links with key organisations in the local area, including the Village Hall, St John the Baptist Church and Longleat and Longleat Forestry.
Our school building is listed and is of great character. There are three classrooms and a lovely sized hall, which is used for assemblies, lunchtime and PE sessions. The grounds are very attractive and provide opportunities for both play and outdoor learning. There is a grassed area, hard surface playground, adventure playground, the Magic Wood, pond, secret garden and orchard. The school also makes use of the village hall and field plays, sports and other events.
